The Capture of Dungeon Baal - Part One (迷宮(ダンジョン)バアル攻略篇・前篇, Danjon Baaru Kōryaku-hen - Zenpen) is the 2nd Night of Adventure of Sinbad OVA series.
Summary[]
Sinbad and Drakon work together to reach Baal. Upon reaching Baal, the two fight each other to prove themselves. Sinbad defeats Drakon and claims the power of Baal. With Yunan's help, Sinbad returns to his mother only to witness her final words of love.
Synopsis[]
Drakon saves one of his soldiers only see the same soldier snatched up by a dragon. He urges his men not to break formation and move side by side. To his horror, the dragons drop his soldiers into the ravines. Suddenly, a brown dragon lunges at Drakon, pushing him to the edge of the cliff. Then, Sinbad kills the dragon. Sinbad urges Drakon to follow him to safety. He remarks how come he was last when he enter the portal first.
Drakon introduces himself to Sinbad, using his full and long name. Sinbad declares he will shorten the name to Drakon. After a fight, the two duck into the cave when a huge dragon flies overhead. Later, Sinbad jokes of how the dragon king is like the king in their country. When the two spot a door, Drakon declares Sinbad as his subordinate and orders him to be his decoy. He says Sinbad will die as a hero for his country. When Sinbad refuses, Drakon elaborates further about nationalism as Drakon's thoughts flash back to Serendine.
The cliffs start to erupt geysers. Drakon slashes an incoming dragon as he inches closer to the door. The door does not open. The white furry dragon notices Drakon and makes it way toward Drakon. Drakon exclaims in fear that he does not want to die as his mind flashes back to Serendine's marriage. Then, Drakon wakes up to find Sinbad yelling at him. Drakon remarks that he is a failure for a soldier. Sinbad explains Drakon is human before a soldier and that a country exists for keeping its people safe. Sinbad borrows Drakon's shield and confronts the dragon.
Sinbad runs around and surfs the geyser using Drakon's shield. He makes his way on slashing the dragon while jumping over to evade the lightning attacks. From high above, Sinbad dives and stabs the dragon. With the dragon's death, Sinbad claims a green orb. The two walk to the door and places the two green orbs into the slots.
During a montage into the dungeon, Drakon comments on Sinbad's prowess and ability. The two bicker before entering a stone building. Sinbad finds a lamp, and upon touching it, Baal emerges. Baal asks who is worthy to be king. Not yielding to anyone, both Sinbad and Drakon confront each other to win Baal for their own goals. In battle, Drakon pins Sinbad down only to find his sword caught by Sinbad's bare hands. Caught off guard, Sinbad delivers a knock out punch to Drakon's face. Fading into unconsciousness, Drakon remembers his promise to Princess Serendine. Serendine playfully flicks Drakon's forehead. She reminds him of her title and how her combat style is reminiscent of a spider. She tells Drakon that dying is unforgivable.
Drakon snaps himself out of it and continues to confront Sinbad. Unfortunately, Sinbad uppercuts him. Drakon's mind keeps flashing back to the past where he learns his brother does not love the princess. Drakon charges at Sinbad after Sinbad explains he has his own reasons for winning. Sinbad punches and knocks out Drakon. Baal acknowledges Sinbad by imprinting his crest on Sinbad's sword.
Drakon's body is found in the middle of the village while Sinbad is found withe the treasure in the crater left by the disappearing dungeon. A soldier congratulates Sinbad and requests him to hand over the treasure to the king. Yunan appears and helps him materialize Baal. Sinbad utters a spell to summon Baal's lightning. Yunan then uses a spell to return Sinbad to his home village. A woman asks Sinbad why was he missing for two weeks. On the verge of death, Esra wakes up to see Sinbad. Sinbad grabs her hand. Sinbad hears Esra's final words of describing Sinbad as a wonderful boy. Esra tells Sinbad that she loves him before passing away.
Post Credits
Serendine places her hand on Drakon's shoulder as an act of consolation. She strikes a man for disrespecting her father. Then, Sinbad stops Serendine from punching the man. The two engage in combat. Confident in poisoning Sinbad with her sword, Serendine boasts until Sinbad surprises Serendine that he has taken the antidote from her. He also cuts her top off. Sinbad then kidnaps Serendine in order to make his escape. Once his boat has enough distance from the shore, Sinbad throws Serendine into a barrel. Infuriated by the humiliation, Serendine yells at Sinbad.
